It's My Birthday.... I am 2! I party like a ROCKSTAR!

Easton's birthday fell on a Monday this year so I took the day off so I could spend this very special day with her. To make it even more special, my mom and Memaw joined us. We spent the morning as Lil' Monkey Bizness. This was the first time Easton, and I for that matter, had been there and we really didn't know what to expect. We walked in and while I was paying, Easton began dragging her Nana to the play area. She was excited and intrigued. At first she was kind of scared of the bigger slides and wasn't having anything to do with the bounce house. But the more she ran and explored, the braver she got. Being the mom of the year that I am (wink, wink) I tossed Easton in to the bounce house. Thank God my plan worked! Because once she stood up and realized how much fun it was, she loved it!

What?! You don't smash your face against the net in the bounce house?

After 3 hours at Monkey Bizness, it was time for lunch. Off to Fritz's we went. We have never taken Easton to Fritz's before so as soon as she saw the train she was amazed. She loved every minute of it. Every time the train came around she would stop eating to point it out to all of us. She loved it!

Of course it's not your birthday without the world's largest strawberry sundae!

After lunch we headed to Nana's for a nap and dinner.

2nd Birthday Party

Invitations were mailed out...

 The day came...
Friends and Family arrived...

(Thank you to everyone who came to Easton's birthday party. Unfortunately, our ornery toot wasn't having me take pictures of her!)

We sang "Happy Birthday"...
Easton made a wish and blew out the candles (with daddy's help)...

The cake is from Sam's Club and it was delicious!
Presents were opened...

 Fun was had by all!
We did a color theme for Easton's 2nd Birthday. Purple and Teal. I made my own pennant banner out of scrapbook paper and purchased balloons from Price Chopper. I displayed an original painting by Easton and wrote "I'm Two" on a chalkboard. Very simple and very cute decorations!
It was a memorable and fun birthday party for Easton Bug and she enjoyed every minute. Except for the picture taking. She was spoiled rotten with gifts. Thank you to family and friends for celebrating our ornery toot's 2nd Birthday!

2

Oh Easton Bug, you are two. Boy, are you 2! You are independent and full of energy. Stubborn and adventurous. Curious about the world and how it works. You will do it, but in your own time. Your mind is sharp and full of knowledge. You are quick to learn and amaze your Daddy and me every day. You don’t always want the spotlight and can sometimes be very shy. But then there are times when you want the world to stop and look at what you are doing and watch you shine. You seek our approval and every day you make us proud. You love to smile and giggle, be chased by anyone, run fast and can swim like a fishy. You love being outside, whether you are swinging, chasing your big pink ball, watering the garden or picking tomatoes and strawberries. Bossy Blondell should have been your middle name. You are a leader, for sure. Listening isn’t always your best trait. Some days time out is a never ending cycle, then others days it is nowhere in sight. Like I said, you are 2.

Favorite Activities:

Lake Lover and Headboard

Our weekends are always eventful and this past weekend was not different. Aside from the All Star 5K I completed on Sunday, we also enjoyed an afternoon with friends and family at the Lake House on Saturday.

Our little fishy loved the lake. In fact, the only time we got her out was to eat and watch the lake fireworks. Needless to say, she crashed on our way home that night.

We finally finished a project! I have this horrible habit of starting projects and dragging them out foooorrreeeevvveer!

Remember in this post when I talked about bringing a large chunk of Arkansas home with me? Well it came home and it is finally in my bedroom! Yay!

My papaw gave me slats of pine from his barn to make a headboard. I was able to snag the boards from the horse stables so I got cool hinges and locks to place on the headboard.  I gave the boards a good scrubbing. You know, to get the manure and wasp nest off. Then Josh built it. Josh sprayed it with two coats of clear coat so we wouldn't get splinters. Then Josh and some neighbors hoofed that puppy up the stairs and installed it. Then Momma changed her mind! Yikes! After the neighbors, left of course. So me and the hubby took off the legs and reattached it and ta-da! A rustic, one-of-a-kind, gorgeous headboard!
Yes, that is a bunny. Our boo-boo bunny.

Road 13.1: All Star BABY!

A week later after the Color Run and my running BFF are at it again. This time we ran with celebrities! Ok, so more like saw and heard a couple speak. I think I remember the host saying that there was some 8,000 runners/walkers/kids. That is a lot!  This also meant a bottle neck at the finish line and us walking across it instead of finishing our run. That is my only compliant about the race was not being able to finish strong and being corralled through the finish line. Other than that it was a good course, decent morning, and lot of fun! Favorite moment.... running through the water of  2 fire hydrants. KCMO Fire helped the runners keep cool.

Lexie and I ran this race in roughly 32 minutes. We stopped my garmin watch as soon as we realized we would be herded to the finish line. Average pace was 10 minute mile.

This was a once in a lifetime expereience and I am glad it got to do it with Vern!
Pre-Run... except apparently Lexie was distracted by the cutie over to the side ;)

Post-run! Showing off our BLING!

NEXT UP: August 11th, Deanna Rose Farmstead Stampede 5K!

4th of July 2012... Bang Bang!

We started off our 4th in Easton's kiddie pool. While Josh smoked some pork loins for dinner, Easton and I beat the heat by splashing, swimming, and keeping in cool in the kiddie pool. Later that evening friends and family joined us for dinner and Basehor's fireworks. I was relieved that Easton didn't mind the fireworks and enjoyed watching them. She quickly learned how to cover her ears on the loud ones. All and all, it was a great 4th with yummy food and good company.

Excited for some pool time.

One of my favorite pictures... they look so much alike.
