An UNFORGETTABLE Christmas....

"Oh Melissa! Oh Melissa!" the words my mom said to me when she realized she was going to be a grandma! Let me start from 2:47 AM Christmas Day morning....

Josh and I went to bed Christmas Eve knowing that 47 days later after finding out we were pregnant we would be able to FINALLY tell our parents! Needless to say we woke up at 2:47 AM and every hour after that as we counted down until 8:00 AM when my parents would be over to open Christmas. Side note: Josh's Dad and Step Mom came up Christmas Eve and stayed with us so all we were waiting on was my parents and brother. Josh was crazy excited and very impatient. Due to an enormous air compressor, trailer, and lots of snow, my parents didn't arrive until 8:30 AM. I thought Josh was going to die. So we let Josh open his gift from his dad since it was trailered up here and was now in our garage (a 60 gal. air compressor). Then we did stockings. Then.... it was time! I had made a cards for each parent and my brother out of card stock. In the card I glued a picture of our first sonogram and wrote Baby Bosley and July 15, 2010. We then put them in envelopes and sealed them. Josh and I stood up and waited fro my dad to quite telling one of his stories, but he just didn't stop talking. We waited patiently and my nervous and excitement kept building up as he keep chit chatting. Finally I interrupted him and told him to be quite so we could say give out gifts. We informed our parents that since this was kinda the same gift for everyone we wanted them to open the envelopes at the same time. My dad said "Are you taking us on a trip?" I just laughed and moved on to passing out my envelopes to my side of the family as Josh did his. Josh's step-mom Chris was the first to get hers open and she all she said was "No Way!"
Well instead of opening his up my dad looks over and Chris' and thinks he sees a cave. Yep, he thought his grandbaby was a cave! Then my mom gets hers open and all she can get out is "Oh Melissa!, Oh Melissa!, Oh Melissa!"
Of course by this time I am crying and hugging everyone. My dad gives me the biggest hug ever and tells me he loves me VERY much!
Everyone is of course shocked because no one and I mean no one knew we were even trying to get pregnant. They really can't believe we kept it a secret for so long and that we were almost out of our first trimester! It was such a relief to be able to share out GREAT news with them. Of course everyone started putting things together and asked a lot of "It that way you...." and we of course were happy to fill them in on all the white lies and why we had dropped off the face of the earth for the last month. My mom said "Well I am done with Christmas!" I said "No, we still have gifts to open!"

Everyone with there Christmas Gift! I love this picture!
My favorite Ahh-haa... moments: My mom informed me, after we announced that we were pregnant, she noticed Christmas Eve when we were making pies that my butt was getting bigger. Of course then my brother chimed in and said he also noticed that last week. But my dad topped it off with... Yeah I noticed too, but I figured if you could get through the door and Josh didn't care then hell it wasn't any of my business. These comments brought many laughs! Gotta love my family!
We then proceeded to open up gifts!

Once gifts were open and all the wrapping paper, boxes, and bags were picked up Josh and I headed to station 10 to inform his mom that she was going to be a grandma. Josh called her and told her she we were on our way and that we were bringing food to her for. When we get to the fire station she meets us out in the bay and we inform her that we didn't have any food, but we did have one last Christmas present for her. She didn't open the envelope.... she kept talking about how she thought we were going to bring her food. We keep telling her to open the gift. Finally she did and... she screamed! An ear piercing scream! She was absolutely thrilled. She gave both of us a hug and then went running over to a couple of firemen waving the card with the sonogram picture saying "Look what I got for Christmas... A grandbaby!" We told her we figured this was much better than food.
Josh and I then went back home and enjoyed Christmas dinner with our families. During the 47 days there were so many times I wanted to just blurt out WE ARE PREGNANT!, but I am so happy that we decided to wait until Christmas to share our news! It truly was the best Christmas ever and we couldn't ask for better grandparents and uncles to be. Oh, and the Christmas Cards we went out were a hit also! Thank you everyone for all your congratulations, prayers, love, and support!

10 days until the THE BUMP is revealed!

It is exactly 10 days until we spill the beans about the always growing BUMP to our parents! We can't be more excited. Not only are we scheming our big reveal to our parents, but we are also planning a big Christmas Card Surprise for friends and family. We are mailing out our Christmas cards Christmas Eve that say:

We hope Santa was as good to your family as he was to ours!
Love Josh, Melissa....
and Baby Bosley
Yep, you read that right...
We are PREGNANT!

We are trying to time it where everyone receives them Saturday. This way our parents know and their surprise isn't ruined.

Crazy preggo story: Josh has wrapped EVERY SINGLE gift under our tree, well until this past Sunday when I figured I better wrap his gifts. We use brown painters paper for wrapping paper. Gives our tree a very country feel and looks like that brown paper you see in old movies when the local women would go to the store. We finish it off with either twine or ribbon. Anyways.... Josh is out in the garage working on his truck and I begin to setup my wrapping station at the dinning room table. About 5 seconds into measuring out screw drivers on the brown paper I begin to gag. I go down stairs and tell Josh I think we have a problem. The smell of the wrapping paper is making nauseous! Before he could get anything out I slam the garage door shut and bolt to the upstairs bathroom. I come back down to the garage and he just smiles and asks me if I want him to go and get different wrapping paper from Wal-Mart. I tell him that it would look funny under the tree and not match. He then suggests to put a scented bandanna around my mouth and nose to block the wrapping paper smell. It works like a charm! I look like the wrapping bandit, but hey I got the wrapping done with out losing any more of breakfast!

It has been confirmed! We are 8 Weeks Pregnant!

Tuesday, December 8, 2009 Josh and I went to our first Baby doctors appointment! A lot is going on in the Bosley household.... a lot of catching up in this blog. Where do I start?.... Ok, so my sense of smell is out of control. I was bad before, but now it is a million times worse. Because of my out of control smelling ability Josh recently has gone through three different types of body wash all because I gag when I smell them. This last one, Zest, did him in. He broke out in a rash. Yep, he had a very bad allergic reaction to it. So not only was it our first baby doctor's appointment on Tuesday, but Josh also paid a visit to the doctors office. His rash wasn't clearing up after taking Benadryl for several days so for the sake of sleep and discomfort he went to get checked out. He is fine. The doctor gave him some steroids and told him to take Zyrtec instead of Benadryl. Josh informed me that he IS going back to is original body wash and I WOULD have to deal with it! lol.... oh, honey!

Now on to the appointment..... I ended up working half a day since our appointment was not until 2:00 pm. It was best that I did work some because it kept my mind off all the unknowns. First, this is our first baby so we don't really know what to expect. Second, because we are announcing we are pregnant on Christmas Day to our families, I can't really call my mom or anyone else to ask questions. Third and Final, I am a worrier. I worry about everything and psycho analyze everything! It is just who I am and how my mind works. So needless to say I had myself worked up and stressed out. Thoughts like "What if they can't find a heart beat?", "What if things don't look normal", "What if my tests come back with issues", on and on and on. I was in full out worry mode. We get to the doctor's office and of course it is like 110 degrees in there and now I am not only worry, but I am roasting as well (Josh can verify the extreme temps. He was sweating like crazy too). They send us to get our sonogram first. My hands are shaking and my cheeks are rosie from the heat and anxiety that is building up. Also running in the back of my mind is the fact I know I will have to give blood and get the H1N1 shot! Have I mentioned that I FEAR needles! So much that I have minor panic attacks! Ok so anyways we get into the sonogram room and it is dark and relaxing. The lady who performed our sonogram was a saint. She was great with us newbies! Of course I as soon as I see Baby Bosley I bust out in uncontrollable tears. Josh hands me tissues and squeezes my hand like a great dad-to-be and husband. So of course while I am crying, Josh is beaming away at me and the monitor. Totally loving what he is seeing... OUR BABY! There is only ONE baby (thank god!) We hear Baby Bosley's heart beat and it is going strong at 175 beats per minute. Baby Bosley measures 1" and will be making its debut on July 15, 2010! Baby Bosley is on track and everything looked great! Of course we had 10 sonogram pictures printed as part of our Christmas gifts to our parents. I am telling you this lady was a truly a saint. She even wrote Merry Christmas on the eight we are using to tell parents and siblings. It was truly great to share that moment with my husband. From there we moved on to our doctor's appointment. We are using Dr. Grounds as our OBGYN. She was wonderful. Spunky, energetic, and easy to talk to. Josh and I really loved her. We came up with a list of questions prior to the visit and rambled through them with her. She answered everyone with a smile. What was my dear husband doing while she was talking to us? Some dads may zone out or play with all the instruments, but mine was taking notes! Yep, he wrote down answers to our questions, suggestions, and some does and don'ts! It melted my heart every time I looked over and saw him scribbling away on the notepad. After the she did a quick uterus exam I was off to get blood work and the H1N1 shot. I sit down in the chair.... roll my sleeve up.... grab Josh's hand.... and go to bite down on his thumb! He yanks it from me and says you are not biting! I tell him I need something to brace myself! I ended up squeezing this thumb until it is purple. I never look over to see what the hell is going into my are or what the hell is coming out. I just ramble uncontrollably about baby names..... not making sense what so ever. Apparently 4 tubes of blood later the whole thing is over. Only to move onto the H1N1 shot. Of course Josh's thumb only gets a few moments of relief before I clinch onto it for dear life. We left the doctor's office on cloud nine and went Christmas shopping! We celebrated with dinner at Backfire BBQ (just opened at the legends and it wasn't really that great).

Josh has been AMAZING from day one when we found out we were pregnant! He helps me pack nutritionally sound lunches (although I don't always eat them ;) ) He wraps Christmas presents in the evening while I pass out for three hours in the chair. He gets things ready for bed, like bringing up a glass of water, my cell phone, and clearing any laundry off the bed for me. He just ROCKS! Josh thank you so much for being such a wonderful husband and dad-to-be!

Two weeks to go until we spell the beans! At eight weeks this is what my belly looks like! Currently it just looks like a have gained a lot of weight!

It is beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS.... in The Bosley Home

This past Sunday we hit Bishop Tree farm to go lumber jacking. Well maybe not so much, but we did cut down a Christmas tree. Ok it seriously took us 15 minutes to find the tree, shake it, bag it, and pay for it. Yep, Josh spotted it from the road as we were driving up and we didn't waste any time shopping around. I did however tell him one day this will not be so quick and easy when we have kids. He laughed and said I know. So we had the tree, which of course was the biggest one Josh could find, and we headed home to put it up. We get home and learn that a 9 ft. tree needs a big tree stand and not one made for a 7 1/2 ft tree. We tried to make it "work" and it tipped over. Off to Wal-Mart we went.... home again with the proper size tree stand.

Timber!

Yep, it is a 9 footer!

How we left the tree to for our Wal-Mart run. Josh made the comment as we were getting in the truck " God I hope that tree doesn't fall over and take out my TV!"

Of course there is a story as to why there is saw dust on my carpet..... We had the tree all set up and Josh was trimming the branches below to make room for presents. Snip! Crash! half of one the side of the tree fell to the ground. Wrong branch to clip! Josh wanted to leave it, but I told him there was now a ginormous space between the bottom of the tree where the branches started. So unless you are buying big ass gifts for everyone this year then we may want to cut more of the trunk off to minimize the distants between bottom of tree and where the branches start.

What a mess!

Putting the lights on!

My masterpiece... the Mantle! Yes, those are stockings for our doggies and yes, their pictures are on them.

I purchased 8 Christmas boxes from Hobby Lobby and used them to decorate the space above our mantle. It was a super cheap and turned out very cute.

Tah-Dah....

My mom found this Texas hat ornament at Hobby Lobby and I just had to get it for Josh!

Garland and red berries are draped on all our stair railings.

This is holly from our holly bush in our front yard. I cut some and placed in a vase on our mantle.
