Smells, Hair, and the Bulge...

November 30, 2009

Smells are killing me, ummm.... more like making me nauseous. The other day at Wal-Mart we were cruising the Christmas section when I got a whiff of those cinnamon pine cones and cinnamon sticks and began to gag. Of course I grabbed a bag of each. Josh said "Honey, if you can't stand them now then why are we buying them to take home?" My answer " Because I get them every year and put them out so our house smells like Christmas." Josh's response "Whatever."

One morning while making my lunch for work, I put some salsa in rubbermaid container which led to some more gaging. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, salsa. In fact the evening before I had had that same salsa, but for some reason that morning the smell made me run to the bathroom!

Hair! WARNING: Pregnancy can make every day a BAD hair day. My hair is super oily! Gross, I know. Currently in search of some new shampoo that will hopefully tame the mane

We are 26 days from telling our parents! Yay! Thank god also! I am currently struggling to fit into my jeans. Even my "fat" jeans are too tight. I have resorted to using a hair tie to fasten them together and zipping them up as far as I comfortably can. Oh, and I have been favoring lose fitting and long shirts. I have already told Josh as soon as we tell our parents I am diving into the preggo pants.

Mission: Chirstmas Lights was a SUCCESS!

This past Sunday Josh headed up on our roof and began the tedious task of hanging Christmas lights. I thought it would take most of the morning, but I never imagined it would be an all day process. Finally around 5:00 pm Sunday evening the lights were ready to be tested. So my parents came over and we did a big reveal. Well kinda, Josh went to plug in his masterpiece and tah-dah.... nothing. So I plug it into one of our kitchen outlets instead of the outdoor patio outlet. Tah-Dah... they work! So we figure something is wrong with our outdoor outlet. My mom goes over and plugs the extension cord into the outside outlet and hits the ground fault thing (button in the middle of the outlet) and Bam... they work. Outlet was fine just needed to hit the ground fault button. Thanks for being our outlet hero Mom!

So we purchased the "clear" LED lights from Home Depot. You know me always wanting to save money! Do they look clear to you? Nope, they have a blue tint to them because they are LED. Wish I would have known this before Josh strung 400 of them along our roof line. Oh well, they are our Christmas Lights and we love them. Husband.... you did a GREAT job!

The point above our garage is the only section Josh had to scale up a later to hang. And yes, I am holding the ladder yelling at him to stop reaching before he falls.

Josh's view going up the ladder. Hit was a hike!

On the roof.

Now remember, Josh is afraid of heights. Can you really tell?

Pictures Glore!

It was a photo weekend. Saturday morning I went over to the Hedberg home. I work with Matt and his little girl is three months old this month and of course his wife, Niki, wanted pictures of little Ms. Reese. Reese was a rock star! I loved photographing here. She was cute as a button and all her head gear was adorable. Below are a few of my favorite.

From the Hedberg home I headed towards Wyandotte Co. Park to meet up with my cousin Mindy and her son Mr. Logan, but not without a quick run through the McDonald's drive thru for a bite to eat of course. This session was mainly for Logan. Logan loved the leaves, except when they got him dirty. He is two and full of energy! In the beginning he wasn't having it. I struggled to get shots of him looking at the camera, but once we left the leaves and headed to the slide at the playground he was a brand new boy. Ready for his close up.

Sunday afternoon I was honored to be able to shoot my cousin Jessi, her fiance, Lorenzo, and their daughter, Jaelyn. Jessi and Lorenzo are getting married in March of 2010 and wanted some engagement photos/family photos. Jessi and Jaelyn were all smiles and giggles.... Lorenzo, well I had to work with him. Thank you guys! I had a blast! You all will have to wait for the love birds because I am still editing them. Stay tuned!

They SWAM

November 18, 2009

Well this one will be a shock to all cause as you know my lovely wife is the one who does most of the writing on the blog, but with the new news of me going to be a DADDY I thought I would add my two cents.

As you all know by now my Lil swimmers swam their tails off, and I am going to be a dad. Kinda scary huh? When I got the news that Melissa was prego I did not think that a person could be so excited yet so scared at the same time. It was not a scared like OMG we are having a baby, it was more like I am scared to fail as a dad. What if my best is just not good enough? However at the same time I felt like a little kid who just got his first puppy. There is nothing more that I have wanted since we said our I DO's than to have a baby, and some how and some way I got Melissa to stray away from her 5 year post it note plan and have a baby early.

I know that people say that a mom becomes a mother at conception, and that a dad does not become a father until birth. I think that I will have to disagree with that, I know that the baby is not growing inside of me but I feel the pain sometimes too

I mean I get up every time Melissa gets up at night because she don't feel good or just cant sleep, I may go right back to sleep right after I ask if she is OK but damn it I get up and I am still just as tired as if I was up all night. I have also found out that I have become a light sleeper now because I used to be able to sleep through a hurricane now I wake up with the slightest move Melissa may make.

I know that when our families find out that we are having a baby they will be as excited as we were or at least me, and I cant wait to tell them so we can see the looks on their faces. The look on Charle's face you will be able to use on a master card commercial. I already have it all wrote out... OK well at least the end, the look on Chuck's face when he finds out he is going to be a Grandpa... PRICELESS!!!

With all this being said I don't think that I have too much to be afraid of because we will have a GREAT cast of loving people around to help us succeed in our journey. From Charles, Lisa, Mark, my Mom, DAD, and all of our awesome friends! So I would like to go ahead and thank all of you now for being there with us down our new path in life.

This one is for my Awesome Husband...

I LOVE you.... Why.....

  • When it is 7:30 pm and I am falling asleep on the couch you tell me to take a shower and go to bed. Only to head up shortly after to cuddle.

  • Because every time I wake up at 2:30 am because of a pregnancy cramp, so do you. Always asking if I am ok.

  • You understand how important it is to me to wait until delivery to find out the sex of Baby Bosley. Even though it is just as important to you to find out sooner than later. Thank you for waiting.

  • You are gun-ho to paint the nursery the way I want. Even though you dread painting strips (not that you don't like the idea, but it is much more difficult) on the wall, but you know how much I want it so you will make it happen.

  • You are on board with our baby saving mode. No questions asked.

  • You rub my back because you know it is sore and killing me.

  • When we talk about Baby Bosley you smile a huge smile every time and it melts my heart.

  • Swimming with your pregnant wife is your new hobby, because I am worried about staying fit and healthy for the delivery.

  • Because you want to buy me maternity clothes. Yes, it is a shirt that says "Future Longhorn on Board", but hey at least you are excited about clothes, maternity clothes at that.

  • You are just as concerned about what I am eating as I am. Always making sure I am eating my vegetables.

  • While driving to work listening to the radio I just started crying. Then laughing because I couldn't believe I was crying. Which induced more tears. All while cruising down I-70. When I called to tell you about my out of control emotions you simply said I love you honey.

  • Because you love the idea of baby book night!

  • Because you are going to be an absolutely AWESOME Dad!

My SNIFFER has went into OVERDRIVE!

November 16, 2009

Saturday evening as Josh and I were getting ready for bed. I kept smelling this sour musky odor. For the life of me I could not figure out what it was. Pre-pregnancy I had a nose like a bloodhound as Josh would put it. I could smell anything and smell it miles away. Now pregnant this trait has only gotten worse. So this smell I was smelling was driving me nuts because I could not figure out where it was coming from. I would get whiffs of it every now and again. I kept telling Josh I smelled something and couldn't figure out what it was. I thought maybe it was Josh. Now my husband isn't dirty, but sometimes he doesn't realize when his towel is needing a washing and that dirty towel smell transfers to his body when he drys off. Yuck I hate that dirty towel smell! So as inconspicuous and nonchalant as I could. I leaned over and gave him a kiss on his shoulder while taking a deep sniff to check out his odor status. He just looked at me and laughed. He was on to my game.

Josh: Did you really just sniff me and play it off like you were trying to give me a kiss?

Me: (laughing hysterically) Yeah, sorry I can't figure out this smell!

Josh: Maybe it is the dogs?

Me: No I already sniffed them.

Oh, the pregnancy moments just keep getting better and better.

So this past weekend I finished the Book " The Real Deal Guide to Pregnancy" by Erika Lenkert. I absolutely LOVED this book! It told me what I needed to know with humor and real life experiences. Josh even found humor in many of the real life stories I read out loud to him. This is a mom-to-be book not really one to read with the dad-to-be. Although several times I did make Josh turn down the football game so I could read a passage that would benefit/help him. So if you are preggos this book is a good one!

We just finished our 4th week of pregnancy. Below is a picture of my pouch. I have had a lot of bloating and have seemed to consume a ridiculous amount of food lately. Right now I look fat and not pregnant.

Baby Talk and Book Night

Thursday, November 12, 2009

It is all baby talk in the Bosley Home and even in text messages. Josh will randomly send me text messages at work saying how is my wife and baby doing?, I love you and baby too!, or he will send baby name suggestions. Baby talk has taken over! We do however, need to be careful because we are the only two that knows and I would hate to slip up and ruin the surprise. Josh has also taken to rubbing my belly. Yes, I know I don't have a preggos belly just yet, but just the same he likes to give it a little rub. It really is cute. Oh, Josh has also informed me while making dinner one evening that I need to be sure to eat vegetables so the baby grows. I love that he is so excited and worried abot me.

Wednesday night is baby book night. We head to bed around 9:00 pm and read together "What to Expect When You Are Expecting". Yep, we lay in bed and I read out loud and Josh listens and follows along. Last night was the first night we did this and we read up till week 4, because we think this is how far along we are. It was great! I love that my husband is so involved and wants to know so he can make things more comfortable for me and Baby Bosley!

At week 4 (guessing) I feel flippin' tired all the time. I have out of control cramps that jerk me out of bed in the middle of night, bring me to my knees, and sometimes a real good one can bring tears to my eyes. Other than making frequent trips to the restroom to pee and being extra gasey, pregnancy isn't to bad. I am trying to enjoy every moment. Josh and I both are. We are also counting down the days until our first doctor's appointment. 26 days to go!
