Seattle... all Sun and No Rain

The last full week in April I packed my bags, hopped on a plane, and headed to Seattle for a work conference. Of course, most of my day was spent like this...
and my co-worker may have been bored out of his mind, but....
we did spend the evenings enjoying the city
Space Needle

We took the ferry to Bainbridge Island for dinner.

My co-worker and I may have been regulars at this bar...

It was a great conference, but I sure did miss my family. A week away almost too long. We had great weather the entire time we were there. Absolutely no rain. All sunshine. Not to mention I ate some amazing seafood!

WHAT'D UP April!? Rock the Parkway 13.1

How cute is the is lady!

In April I ran my second half marathon. Let me tell you it was much more pleasant than my first. I had a personal record and knocked 5 minutes off my time! Of course the journey was shared with my running buddy, Vern, but this time Jo joined us! She lives in Colorado and managed to find the motivation to train by herself. I was so proud of all of us. Vern PR'd also and knocked 6 minutes off her time and Jo rocked out at 2:17! You can read Jo's recap here.

I ditched out of work early and we headed to the OP Convention Center to pick up our packets and take lots of pictures of ourselves, ha!

We then drove the right to see what exactly we were in for!

That morning I woke up to a sweet note wrote on our bathroom mirror from my Hubby!
We have some awesome friends that came long distances to cheer us on. Thank you ladies!
At the starting line and ready to rock this shit!
You see that big ol' goofy smile plastered to my face!? That's because I know that 1. I am finishing and 2. I can't take a poop!
This course was great for spectators to hit lots of miles to cheer on their loved ones. My family managed to hit several miles and the finish! The Hubby made three signs for us and my Mom did her go-to sign to cheer us on! I teared up every time I saw my family. It means the world to me to have them there to cheer me on and support my crazy dreams!

This is lady below is amazing and has come so far in her journey to get healthy. She inspires me!
That evening we headed out to have sushi and drinks for Karisa's birthday. I totally felt old balls at the Well... but Momma still gots it... as in I can still get hit on, ring and all, by the youngins'!

Roadtrip and Easter

Hello.....Hello.... Is anyone there? Yep, I am still here.

Just where have I been? Welp, not blogging. So what exactly went on during my 3 month hiatus?! Well, a lot!

This next few posts are going to be a long ones, folks. Hang on for the ride. We will start with March.

Ok, in March we loaded up and headed to Arkansas. Easton spent time with her Memaw and Papaw, Uncles and Cousins.

RUNNING.

So, we have hit the halfway point of training. Halfway, people. I am nervous as shit! Not going to lie. I haven't been logging nearly as many miles as last time. My excuses, because they are just that, time, weather, and lack of daylight. Excuses. Ugh. Also lack of motivation.

Magic Pants. BUY them! You won't regret it! Promise! ps. my feet look huge

While I am not checking off my short runs during the week, Vern and I have been busting out our long runs during the weekends. A couple of Sundays ago we picked up this guy...

Unbeknownst to him, I snapped some pictures of him.
The man picked us up at 2.25 miles and chatted it up until we hit our 6 miles. Yes, it was weird, but not too weird. I didn't think he was some kind of axe murder looking for two girls to kill, but some random dude looking for company on his run. If that makes sense. He has ran a marathon in all 50 states. He was far from a rookie in the race circuit. It was by far our most interestingly weird run we have ever had.

Just call us Chatty Cathy these days. Seriously, Vern and I had a cardinal rule, No talking while running. It was that simple. Don't expend energy via talky talky, save it for running. Well that was when we were newbies and less comfortable with running long distances. Now, we know it can be done. You can talk and run and not feel like you are going to die. So we do just that. Talk, run, and be merry. Of course, our pace is slower, but the conversation is great.
Vern and I have pounded out a lot of pavement together. I'm not just talking about running either. Before running, it was the roads to the bars and fraternity houses. Nope, we weren't always running and most of the time it was more stumbling, but we have always had fun together. No matter where the asphalt is taking us.

In other randomness, my Jillian Michaels cd has vanished. My guess, a two year old snatched it up and it no resides in the bottom of a toy box.
